From Comparative Biology to Precision Telomere Therapeutics

The Science Behind Innovation

Every species on Earth has evolved a unique balance between telomere maintenance and lifespan. Some, like whales or bats, maintain long, stable telomeres for decades, while others lose them quickly. These differences contain vital clues about cellular longevity.

Our proprietary AI platform analyzes telomerase and shelterin gene sequences—the key components responsible for maintaining telomeres—across a wide range of species, including humans. By correlating genetic variations with telomere length and lifespan, the system identifies the most promising genetic patterns for improving telomere stability in human cells.

These insights allow us to model and select the best combinations of telomerase and shelterin genetic variants. We then test them in laboratory models of diseases driven by telomere dysfunction, including diabetes, ataxia-telangiectasia, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and bone marrow failure syndromes. In doing so, we discover the precise molecular mechanisms that restore healthy cellular replication.

Engineering Drug Candidates That Restore Telomere Function

From Genes to Therapies

Once we identify which genetic variants stabilize telomeres most effectively, we translate that knowledge into practical therapeutics. Our scientists generate small bioactive peptides and also design small molecules that mimic the beneficial effects of these genetic changes but can be delivered safely and efficiently as drugs.

We first test these compounds in sick human cells. If a molecule successfully restores telomere length and cellular health then, it moves on to testing in animal models that suffer the same human disease. When we see clear disease reversal in animals, the compound advances to preclinical safety studies, where we evaluate toxicity, pharmacokinetics, stability, and tissue distribution. From here, they enter clinical studies and, if still successful, they will reach our patients.
